Current Projects/Activities
Building Capacity for Healthy Couple Relationships Education
The University of Wisconsin-Extension Family Living Programs has begun implementing programming in healthy couple relationships education through a collaborative, state-wide team. Specific partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Human Ecology provided support for building capacity in extension programs, integrating the research findings into programming decisions, and identifying curricula and other teaching resources appropriate for extension audiences. Current activities include faculty and staff training on research-based curricula and the development of supplemental materials in support of those curricula. (Project period: 2006 - present).
State-wide Healthy Marriage Coalition
The UW-Extension Healthy Couple Relationships Team has partnered in a grant funded by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unwanted Pregnancy to prevent unplanned pregnancies and promote positive intimate relationships and sexual health among the college population. Using an information-based and skill-building approach, the project offers education around three central areas: sexuality, relationship dynamics, and the college drinking context. Extension educators are partnering with University of Wisconsin System two-year college campuses to disseminate information and researchers are working to develop web-based resources and additional educational experiences for students, faculty, and staff. (Project period: 2008 – 2010)
Supporting Two Year College Students - Wisconsin Intimate Relationships Education
The UW-Extension Healthy Couple Relationships Team has partnered with the state’s 13 two-year campuses in the University of Wisconsin System to develop relationship education resources for the student services at these campuses. The collaborative program will produce a web-based resource delivery system for students, faculty and staff. Program information focuses on healthy relationships as a means to reducing barriers to students’ educational goals while creating healthy intimate relationships. (Project period: 2008 - 2009).
