Current Projects/Activities
Before You Tie the Knot
Through its Before You Tie the Knot curriculum, the Personal and Family Well-Being focus team of Family and Consumer Sciences Cooperative Extension at the University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), has helped to support premarital education in the state of Florida. Ongoing programs based on this curriculum are being implemented in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tampa, Palm Beach, and Spring Hill Florida. This four-part curriculum contains sessions on: Communication, Conflict Resolution, Finances, and Parenting. (Contacts: Eboni Baugh, Suzanna Smith, Heidi Radunovich; Project Period: 2007 - Present).
Education for Parents and Teens' Dating
The UF/IFAS curriculum Teening-Up with Your Adolescent contains six sessions for parents and their teens and covers topics such as discipline, risk behavior, developmental trends, and building teen assets. Although this is mainly a parenting curriculum and educational tool for youth workers, particular session topics include talking with teenagers about dating relationships, sex, drugs, and alcohol.
